The shape of recovery

As regular readers will know, I sprained my right ankle for a second time in March having sprained the same one in December 2013. The first time I returned to running after four weeks, full typical weekly mileage a week later and then followed a further five weeks of solid training with a series of 4 PBs in 21 days. I knew immediately my recovery was unlikely to be so straightforward the second time around …

Nonetheless, despite what transpired to be a premature return to training at the end of April, my subsequent return in mid June has proved sustainable to date and I’m now able to race again! The Bournemouth Supersonic 10k, which I added to my event diary in May, is now only two weeks away and consequently my first event of any note for over six months will be a Dulwich parkrun. Tomorrow. At 9:00am.
